Fit & Flare
A Fit and Flare gown is one that is close to the body through the bodice and continuing right past the hip, where the skirt then "flares" away from the body. The flare may be subtle or dramatic.
Fit and Flare is very similar to Mermaid and Trumpet styles. The differences are Fit and Flare flares right below the hip to mid-thigh; Trumpet flares gradually at the mid-thigh or just above the knee; Mermaid flares at or below the knee.
To make things a little more confusing, some Ball Gowns also feature a Fit and Flare style.
Every effort has been made to assign the correct silhouette category to each dress. Please note, however, that we cannot guarantee each dress has been categorized correctly.
